Love All, as Christ Loves
I need to firstly state that the following are my own opinions, and my own beliefs. I am not a political expert and no one is an expert on the Bible but God Himself.
I feel as if Mississippi has taken a step back today.
As much as I love this state that I have called home for almost 4 years, I hate this.
This afternoon Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed into law a measure that protects organizations when declining services based on religious beliefs and with that--- sexual orientations. So in plain speak, it is legal to take a job away from men or women who are of the LGBT community. It is legal to turn away people based on who they are.
I am a Christian woman. I am not perfect. Good grief, no I am in no way perfect. I am jealous. I am hateful. I am lustful. I am selfish. Maybe 20 minutes out of my whole day do I raise up the Lord in my words or actions, the rest of the time I am thinking of myself.
So does everyone else on this planet. Every single soul sins. No one can escape urges, feelings and thoughts from Satan. That is part of it. That's why we need to run towards Christ. For I know that in Christ I have a far better chance of overcoming all these horrible words, actions and thoughts I commit daily. I need to admit that I am personally having a difficult time deciding on how I feel about the entire LGBT topic, I feel like once I have my mind made up someone throws something new at me.
I do know this: Jesus loves everyone. Even the people I can't imagine loving- the murders, the peodfiles, the alcholics, the drug addicts, the adulterers. Jesus doesn't sit down and separate everyone between "to love" and "to not love"... He just loves. He tells us to love as he loves, so therefore to love SELFLESSLY, to love WHOLLY, and to love ALL.
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love."
-1 John 4:7-8 (ESV)
I am making a public statement that I will never discriminate against anyone based on their race, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, sex, or handicap. Why should I? We are made in the image of God- Creator, Abba, Father- we mirror HIS image. When I discriminate against another human being, I discriminate against GOD.
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him:
male and female he created them."
-Genesis 1:27 (ESV)
Mississippi, I beg you. Please read your Bibles. Hit your knees and pray. Christianity is not a religion of hate. There is no message of discrimination between lines in the gospel.
